Dear Starbird Community,
Next week marks the culmination of months of activism and anxiety. The weight the upcoming election has been on all of our shoulders is palpable, and the well-being of our community amidst the pandemic has been heavy on my mind.

Our country and our business rely on a functioning democracy, and the most important thing any of us can do right now is vote. Starbird firmly believes in governance through participation and is proud to provide our team members with tools and information to make their voice heard, as well as paid time off on Election Day for those who need to vote in-person. We hold the same feelings about our growing customer base throughout the Bay Area - no matter where you stand politically, we hope the right to vote inspires you to actively participate in choosing the policies and policymakers that shape our respective communities.

Whether you’ve voted, plan to drop off your ballot, or will on Tuesday, November 3, we all must be confident that our vote will be counted and hold our media and local elected officials accountable to be cautious, patient, and thorough in their handling of the results.

We may not know our next President on Tuesday night, or even next week, and there is an unfortunate likelihood of civil unrest no matter the winner. While Starbird supports the right to peacefully protest, our foremost concern is your safety. We encourage everyone to wear a mask and keep their distance should you venture out.

America’s democracy is built on communities like ours - people from all walks of life with a variety of interests who share a common appreciation for coming together with their friends and family over a good meal.

We want to thank all of our respective local poll workers, those who’ve voted already, and everyone who will exercise this unalienable right on or before Tuesday, November 3. And we tip our caps to our peers in the restaurant industry who share the same commitment to the democratic process and employee freedom. Our collective participation can create the model communities we strive for, even in these rough times.
